Two pit bulls were rescued from their allegedly neglectful owner and her uninhabitable home on Wednesday, Feb. 19, according to a Sunday, Feb. 23 Suffolk County SPCAnews release.

Their owner, Stacy Zimmer, 48, was arrested in Brentwood, N.Y., on Feb. 19. She was charged with animal cruelty, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two dogs, named Princess and Koda, were allegedly found inside in “filthy areas of garbage and feces.” There were hundreds of dead flies and buckets of urine, and the garbage was “strewn about the interior of the residence.” The ammonia odor was so “overwhelming” and “foul” that it made “investigators cough and gag while indoors.”
