Police Arrest 3 People for Allegedly Stealing Mail from Over 100 Homes After a 23-Mile Chase in California

A 23-mile pursuit in California led to the arrest of three individuals who allegedly stole mail from over 100 homes.

According to apress releasefrom the Clovis Police Department, the chase began just after 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, after an officer on patrol near the Fowler and Alluvial avenues noticed a suspicious vehicle in the area.

After police tried to pull the vehicle over, it quickly sped away, leading officers to chase it down 23 miles to southwest Fresno, police said.

Officers called for assistance from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), who used spike strips to deflate the vehicle’s tires.

This helped end the pursuit near California and Orange avenues, where an officer from the Clovis Police Department used a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver.

Mail theft arrest

While none of the suspects were injured during the incident, one officer from the Clovis Police Department was treated and released for a minor injury to their hand, the press release explained.

A photo attached to the press release shows a table full of mail, including a pile of coupons, multiple envelopes and a package from Amazon Pharmacy.

The suspects were identified as Yer Vue, 42, and Amanda Lizarraga, 35, of Fresno, and Sombat Vang, 30, of Clovis.

According to the Clovis Police Department, they were arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple charges, including mail theft, possession of stolen property and burglary tools, and conspiracy.

Detectives from the Clovis Police Department are working with the U.S. Postal Inspectors to investigate the incident and return the stolen mail to its owners.
