Police Officer Rescues Trapped, Unconscious Man from Burning Car Wreck in Dramatic Body Camera Footage

Mar. 15, 2025

A New Jersey police officer helped rescue a man from a burning car — and it was all caught on camera.

Both vehicles then"fused and became engulfed in flames" before eventually traveling about 685 feet after the impact, police said.

Noah Allatt, an officer with Bridgewater Township Police, arrived at the scene “shortly after” and noticed the driver of the Hyundai, 44-year-old Peter Della-Ventura, “was unconscious and entrapped inside the burning vehicle.”

Earlier in the clip, the driver of the semi-truck, who managed to escape his vehicle, warned Allatt that the empty tanker previously had flammable materials inside.

After confirming he could approach the burning vehicles, Allatt raced over to rescue the man inside the Hyundai. He first attempted to pull Della-Ventura out of the car through the open passenger door, but was forced to race around to the driver’s side and pull him out there.

Della-Ventura and the passenger from his car “were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” according to police.

The department applauded Allatt’s heroics in their post on Facebook. “Officer Allatt showed bravery, strength and composure throughout the duration of the call,” they said, later adding, “A job well done!”

No charges have been filed in connection with the crash, which remains under investigation, according to the Bridgewater Township Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to contact Officer Joseph Greco of the Bridgewater Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit at (908) 722-4111 ext. 4186.
