Princess SofiaandPrince Carl Philipof Sweden are introducing their little princess.
After the couplewelcomed their fourth child and first daughteron Feb. 7,King Carl XVI Gustafrevealed the new addition’s namefor the first time on Feb. 10 during a Council of State at the Royal Palace. Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip named their daughter Princess Ines Marie Lilian Silvia.
The name is full of family significance. The name honors both of her grandmothers: Carl Philip’s mother, Queen Silvia, and Sofia’s mother, Marie.
A video shared on Instagram showed King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Princess Madeleine and more attending the thanksgiving service the same day. Proud dad Prince Carl Philip, 45, attended the ceremony with their three sons:Prince Alexander, 8,Prince Gabriel, 7, andPrince Julian, 3.
Princess Ines joined the line of succession to the throne in the eighth spot behind her big brothers. According to the royal family, Princess Ines was granted the Duchy of Västerbotten.
Prince Carl Philip said at the time that he saw the decision as “positive” for his children, adding that it would allow them to “have freer choices in life."

Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip, who wed in June 2015,announced the pregnancyon Sept. 2, revealing their fourth child was due in February.
Princess Sofia toldVogueScandinaviain a December article that she “always, always, always dreamt of a family.”
“It’s one of my biggest goals in life,” she said. “Not everyone has that – I had that.”
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five, with three kids, so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," the royal added. “But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
