Rachel Brosnahan Calls Late Aunt Kate Spade Her 'Fashion Inspiration' in Touching Tribute

Years after her tragic death, designerKate Spadeis still inspiring her nieceRachel Brosnahan.

The actress attended the 2025 Michael Kors fashion show duringNew York Fashion Weekon Wednesday, Feb. 12, where she was asked to name her fashion inspiration.

“My fashion inspiration was my aunt,” theMarvelous Mrs. Maiselstar toldE! News. “My aunt was the late fashion designer Kate Spade, and she was a huge inspiration to me in every sense. I loved how she used color, but she was also one of the kindest, most generous people to ever walk the face of the Earth.”

Brosnahan has been vocal about her love for her aunt numerous times in the wake of her death. In June 2024, the 34-year-old actress marked the sixth anniversary of the designer’s death with atouching Instagram tribute.

“Sometimes you run out of things to say except I miss you. 6 years without Katy today 💚,” Brosnahan wrote alongside a childhood photo of herself and Spade curled up together on a couch.

In her aunt’s honor, Brosnahan became the face of Kate’s footwear and handbags line, Frances Valentine, in 2019.

“When you lose someone you love, you search for boundless ways to keep their memory alive,” Brosnahan explained. “This felt like a way to do that through her beautiful creations and an opportunity to share them with all of those who her work meant so much to.”
