Robert Pattinsonisn’t getting any younger.
The actor, 38, joked in a recent interview withHero Magazinethat he will be playing “old Batman” in the anticipated sequel toThe Batmanfollowing years of delays.
HisMickey 17costarNaomi Ackie, also participating in the interview, replied, “You’re literally what, 35?” to which theTwilightalum said, “I’m 38, I’m old.”

“I’m old, but I’m healthier,” he added. “I think I’ve actually brought my biological age down a bit.”
A sequel forThe Batmanwas confirmed at CinemaCon in April 2022, with both Pattinson and Reeves returning.

The following January, DC studio co-headsJames Gunnand Peter Safran said during a press event that the movie — titledThe Batman Part II —would release on Oct. 3, 2025.
Since then, the movie has faced several delays. In December 2024, the follow-up was postponed to Oct. 1, 2027. Gunn responded to news onThreads, writing, “To be fair, a 5 year gap or more is fairly common in sequels,” citingAlien,Terminator,Top Gunand the latest two sequels of his own movie,Guardians of the Galaxy, as examples.

Pattinson, doing press for his upcoming science fiction comedyMickey 17, toldVarietyin February that the superhero sequel will begin production at the end of the year.
“I think at the end of the year?” he said before teasing the storyline. “And I know what it’s about but I can’t tell anyone, but it’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting.”
In addition toMickey 17and theBatmansequel, the actor is set to appear in Christopher Nolan’sstar-studdedOdysseyadaptation, set to hit the big screen in 2026. The movie will also starZendaya,Tom Holland,Anne HathawayandMatt Damon.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLElast month, Pattinson opened up about the unique thing he does while preparing for his film roles. “I do a lot of wandering around kind of practicing stuff rather than practicing new characters, which annoys everyone around me,” he shared.
He added that it’s not uncommon for those closest to him to ask questions like, “Why do you speak like a taxi driver in a German accent?”
