Sean Ono Lennon Says It's 'Not a Burden' to Be John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Son: 'It's Honestly a Great Privilege for Me'

Sean Ono Lennonisn’t ashamed to have famous parents.

While speaking to reporters in the press room at the2025 Grammy Awardsin Los Angeles on Feb. 2, the musician, 49, opened up about being the son ofJohn LennonandYoko Ono, and how that affects him as he navigates his own music career.

“In terms of balancing and being the custodian of [my dad’s] music and my own music, it’s not a burden. It’s honestly a great privilege for me,” Sean explained.

Sean followed in his famous parents' musical footsteps from an early age. Over the course of his career, he released three solo albums, 1998’sInto the Sun, 2006’sFriendly Fireand 2024’sAsterisms,as well as various projects with other bands.

When asked if he has plans to re-release more of hisfather’s past projects, Sean explained at the annual music event that he does — and detailed what specifically.

“Simon and I are working on the One to One concert, which was John and Yoko’s last concert inMadison Square Garden,” he said, noting, “We’re working on repackaging that, remixing it, and we’ve got a whole film coming with it.”

“It’s super cool,” Sean added of the August 1972 concert. “They were all decked out in camouflage … and they looked like wild radical leftists. It was really a cool show.”
