Search Nears 1 Week for Snowboarder, 26, Who Disappeared at Colorado Ski Resort

It’s been nearly one week since authorities began searching for a 26-year-old man who disappeared while snowboarding at a Colorado ski resort.

TheEagle County Sheriff’s Officesaid officials were informed of the snowboarder’s disappearance in the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 14.

Gill was last seen heading toward the Avanti route area just before 9 a.m. on Friday, according to the report.

The snowboarder “was last seen wearing an orange ski suit that has blue accents on the top part and a grey helmet” while “riding on a Salomon snowboard,” the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office said.

The Vail Mountain Rescue team and Vail Ski Patrol responded to the call “based on the parties last known location” and knowing the area where the missing individual “commonly rode,” authorities added.

Several groups and agencies are assisting with the search, according to the sheriff’s office, including the Vail Mountain Rescue Group, Vail Police Department, Vail Mountain Ski Patrol and Vail Communication Center.

Vail Resorts did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
