BeforeSelena Quintanilla’s tragic death in 1995, she expressed her desire to have kids.

In an interview featured inSelena y Los Dinos, which premiered Wednesday at SXSW, the Mexican-American singer opened up about wanting to have a family of her own.

“I would love to have children in the future. I think it is a part of my womanhood that, as a woman, I feel that I am missing it,” Selena told a reporter.

However, she saw this happening “more so in the future. I feel that I have to extract all of the goals that I have in my mind and achieve them.”

“And in the future, when I have time to take care of my children, well, of course I’m going to have kids. Like six,” she said with a laugh. “Another group.”

Elsewhere in the documentary, the “Como la Flor” singer’s sister, Suzette, opened up about the intimate conversations they had abut their dreams.

“After she was married with Chris she would just always tell me about her dreams. She would take off her makeup and always put her hair in a bun,” Suzette, now 57, recalls.

Adding, “We would talk about getting married, about me getting married one day, about her having children, her kids and my kids were gonna play together and we were going to make sure that we were going to raise them together. Normal stuff.”

Though Selena’s parents weren’t happy about her eloping with her guitaristChris Pérezin 1992, upon reflection, Suzette is happy about the way their relationship played out.

“I’m kind of glad that she did do it the way that she did because she got to experience love and was a wife,” she says. “Because what if she would’ve waited?”
