A snake catcher responding to a family’s home in Australia discovered what he’s now calling a “dangerously venomous” snake slithering in a washing machine.

Tim Hudson of Hudson Snake Catchingrevealed on Facebookon Feb. 11 that he responded to a family’s home in Maudsland, a suburb of Gold Coast, Australia, when he stumbled upon an eastern brown snake hatchling.

In the image accompanying the snake catcher’s post, the reptile is shown in the middle of an open washing machine with its tongue out, sporting an orange-and-yellow color with black stripes.

Hudson later shared a follow-up clip with a close-up look at the snake, calling it the “second most toxic snake in the world.”

“It’s crazy,” he says in thefootage. After finding the reptile, Hudson captured it and relocated it without harming any humans or snakes, perUnited Press International(UPI).

TheAustralian Museumnoted that the eastern brown snake is likely “encountered more than any other type of snake” in Australia and will “react defensively if surprised or cornered.”

The species' venom contains “powerful presynaptic neurotoxins, procoagulants, cardiotoxins and nephrotoxins,” with “successful envenomation” potentially resulting in “progressive paralysis and uncontrollable bleeding,” according to the Australian Museum.

“As the initial bite is generally painless and often difficult to detect, anyone suspected of receiving a bite from an Eastern Brown Snake should call for medical attention without delay. This species has the unfortunate distinction of causing more deaths from snake bite than any other species of snake in Australia.”
