Beginning on Jan. 7, rapid fires moving in and around the L.A. area have pushed tens of thousands to flee the region, leaving their homes behind. Accordingly, many television shows, award shows and related events have been postponed or cancelled for the time being as first responders work to contain the deadly fires.

In addition to the postponements, actressJean Smartput out a plea on Wednesday, encouraging the entertainment industry to notair any of the award shows this yearand instead, donate the money that would have been spent to the victims of these flames.

“ATTENTION! With ALL due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks television the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to the victims of the fires and the firefighters,” she wrote on Instagram.
