TheYellowstoneuniverse is expanding once again.

The Madison, thelatest spinoff from the hit Paramount show, was confirmed in August 2024 after previously being named2024. While the spinoff was originally tied toMatthew McConaughey, Paramount confirmed thatMichelle Pfeifferwas attached to the project and would star in a leading role.

The Madisoncomes off the heels of two previous spinoff shows,1883and1923,while others that have been greenlit include the limited seriesLawmen: Bass Reeves,6666and1944.

The original series,Yellowstone, came to an endin December 2024. However, it is unclear whenTheMadisonwill make it to the airwaves.

From the starry cast to what the show will be about, here’s everything to know aboutYellowstone’s latest spinoff,TheMadison.

What willTheMadisonbe about?

Now thatYellowstone’s season 5 finale has aired,TheMadisonwill act as a sequel to the show set in the present day, where previous spinoffs have been set in the past. According to the press release,TheMadisonwill follow a New York family who settle in the Madison River valley of central Montana and will be a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection.”

Though it’s unclear ifTheMadisonwill feature the same characters asYellowstone, it’s possible they will make an appearance, as previous spinoffs have mainly focused on the Dutton family.

The original series follows the Duttons, includingKevin Costneras John and Kelly Reilly as Beth, and their ownership of the biggest ranch in Montana as they battle drama from the neighboring Broken Rock Indian Reservation, Yellowstone National Park and developers.

How doesTheMadisonrelate toYellowstone?

PerThe Hollywood Reporter, whenTheMadisonwas first announced, it was set to take place after the events ofYellowstone.

The show was meant to continue the Dutton family story with the introduction of new characters as well as retaining some old ones.

However, it’s unknown whether it will follow an entirely new story.

Who is in the cast ofTheMadison?

Paramount Network announced Pfeiffer to be helming the lead role inTheMadisonin August 2024 while also producing the show.

“She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of theYellowstoneuniverse,Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan,” he added.

The following week, Paramount Network confirmedPatrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller will be joining the cast ofTheMadison. Adams and Chapman will play young married couple Russell and Paige McIntosh, who are wealthy New Yorkers, while Garrett will be Abigail Reese, a recently divorced mother of two. Miller is Bridgett, Abigail’s older daughter.

PerPuck,Yellowstonefavorites Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes were in talks to reprise their roles in May 2024. However, they have not officially been attached to the project.

Will Matthew McConaughey be inTheMadison?

McConaughey was previously the biggest name rumored to be attached to theYellowstonesequel, formerly called2024. In February 2023, the actor wasrumored to be joining a then-unnamed spinoffas Costner was leaving the series.

“We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part ofYellowstoneand we hope that’s the case for a long time to come,” a spokesperson for Paramount Network said in a statement. “Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built.”

The statement continued, “Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner.”

The following April, McCarthyconfirmed that a spinoff would be occurring, though there was no news of whether McConaughey would be joining.

“Matthew and Taylor are fans of each other’s work and have been speaking about ways they can work together,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.

Since then, there hasn’t been an update on whether McConaughey will be cast.

Where will I be able to watchTheMadison?

While it is unconfirmed whereTheMadisonwill be available to watch, all five seasons ofYellowstoneare available only on Peacock. It’s prequels,1923and1843, can be streamed on Paramount+.
