At theend of the year, I take inventory of the clothes I rarely wore and the pieces that I couldn’t stop wearing. I donate the former and tell everyone I know about the latter.
In recent years, the clothes I’ve reached for the most have beenstaple piecesthat don’t sacrifice comfort for style — and 2024 was no different. I bought multiple versions of acute, cozy crewneckfrom Aritzia, which I paired with everything from leggings to denim shorts to trousers. Since I’m always looking for smart recs to invest in, I asked the PEOPLE shopping team what their most comfortable go-to pieces of the year were.
Below, our shopping experts share their favorite hoodies, sweatpants, sweaters, and more from brands likeOld Navy,Abercrombie, andGap.
Amazon
$53$37 at Amazon
I’m practically swimming in this oversized Amazon hoodie, but that’s what I love about it. I picked it up during October Prime Day with the purpose of wearing it to and from the gym in cold weather, but I keep reaching for it even when I’m not working out because the fleece lining feels so soft and satisfying. —Laura Gurfein, shopping director
Old Navy
$35$28 at Old Navy
I typically live in leggings, but I picked up a pair of these fleece, wide-leg sweatpants during Old Navy’s Black Friday sale and find myself reaching for them almost daily (which is fine because I’ve already purchased two additional colors). They truly live up to their “SoComfy” name, with a cozy fleece material that’s surprisingly lightweight yet warm. —Kayla Kitts, shopping editor
Quince
$100 at Quince.com
I’m a longtime fan of Quince’s ultra-soft (and affordable!) cashmere sweaters, and this crewneck is my absolute favorite. It has a slouchy fit that’s far from frumpy, and it’s great to layer over T-shirts and turtlenecks on extra cold days. Best of all, it’s machine-washable on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent; I lay it flat to air-dry and it’s still just as soft and oversized as the day that I got it. —Clara McMahon, shopping writer
Aritzia
$75$60 at Aritzia.com
Abercrombie & Fitch
$60$48 at Abercrombie.com
I became obsessed with Abercrombie & Fitch’s sweatshirts this year because of their soft fleece lining. This red hoodie is my most recent buy that I’ve been wearing weekly, and I love that it’s designed with a slightly faded look to give it a vintage feel. The unisex style is slightly oversized, so I tuck mine slightly into jeans and add a pair of Chelsea boots. —Lindsey Greenfeld, senior shopping editor
Gap
$75$55 at Gap
I was gifted these black sweater pants from Gap last Christmas, and they’ve easily won the title of pants I wear most often. They’re super soft without feeling too heavy or thick, and the relaxed fit has resulted in me reaching for them whether I’m working from home, lounging on the couch, or running quick errands, all without feeling like I’m wearing baggy sweats. They’re basically like nicer pajama pants. —Jennifer Maldonado, associate editorial shopping director
Vuori
$108 at Vuoriclothing.com
I always love a cozy fit from Vuori, but this oversized hoodie has become one of my go-to pieces for WFH and leisure days alike. It’s lightweight and buttery soft, with a pocket and chic hood, too. —Madison Yauger, shopping editor
Cozy Earth
$165$132 at Cozy Earth
I’ve owned these lightweight, durable joggers for almost two years, and hands-down, they’re the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn. I love the straight-leg silhouette that’s never clingy, with plenty of room to move around, but not so oversized that I feel like a slob. I wear them everywhere: morning walks to the beach, errands, long-haul flights, road trips, and even while lounging at home. —Toni Sutton, shopping writer
