The actor, 29, pulled double duty onSaturday Night Liveon Jan. 25, acting as both host and musical guest.
Ahead of his first musical performance, Sandler, 58, made a surprise cameo to introduce Chalamet. The actor-comedian pronounced the young star’s name in a comedic, Sandler-fied way, a continuation of ajoke madeat the2025 Golden Globe Awardson Jan. 5.
During her opening monologue at the awards show, hostNikki Glaserteased Chalamet and said, “Your name sounds like something Adam Sandler would say," before theHappy Gilmorestar replied from the audience with his own spin on the pronunciation.

During hisopening monologue, Chalamet poked fun at how he “keeps losing” at awards shows, stating, “Each time it gets harder to pretend it doesn’t sting,” before a compilation showing him losing to competitors includingGary OldmanandMahershala Aliplayed.
Then, as Chalamet attempted to practice giving an acceptance speech, the pretend award was announced and instead given toKenan Thompson.

Elsewhere during the show, Chalamet starred in a series of sketches, including one in which he played a boyfriend whoadministers a new CPR technique to his girlfriend’s grandmaand another where he portrayeda barista in training.
One other moment from the episode saw theDuneactor star as anAI character who hosts an educational podcast.
