Tom Holland's Dad Is 'Confident' Actor's Relationship with Zendaya Will Last Despite Strain of 'Combined Stardom'

Tom Holland’s father is rooting for the actor andZendaya.

In aPatreon postshared on Friday, Jan. 10,Dominic Hollandwrote about his oldest child’s romance with the actress, 28, and how he believes they are meant to last, despite the challenges that come with being a couple in the public eye.

Then expressing his belief that “show business is a messy place for relationships and particularly so for famous couples as they crash and burn in public and are too numerous to mention,” Dominic highlighted his own relationship with wife Nikki Holland as “an example” for Tom, 28, and Zendaya to look to.

“With Nikki helming this family and my ‘wisdom’ on tap and a study in getting things mostly wrong and yet somehow right at the same time, I am completely confident they will make a successful union,” Dominic wrote.

Tom and Zendaya — who play onscreen couple Peter Parker and Michelle “MJ” Jones in theSpider-Manmovies — initially maintained for years that they were just friends and not romantically involved.

They were eventuallyspotted kissing in a carin July 2021, confirming their off-screen romance.

Earlier this month, Zendayastepped out at the 2025 Golden Globessporting a diamond ring on her left hand, sparking engagement speculation. A family source later confirmed to PEOPLE that the pair are set to wed.

“He’s always been crazy about her. He always knew she was the one. They have something very special,” another insider said of Tom, detailing that the star shared the engagement news with friends around New Year’s.

Over the years, Tom and Zendaya have opened up aboutnavigating their romance as public figuresand why keeping their relationship private is important to them both.

“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world,” Tom said in a November 2021 interview withGQ.

Speaking toThe Hollywood Reporterin June 2023, Tom reiterated why he and Zendaya prefer to keep their relationship under wraps.

“Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible," he explained. “We don’t think that we owe it to anyone, it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”

The following month, Tom revealed that his relationship with theEuphoriastar isthe thing he holds “most sacred” in life. “I don’t talk about it. I try my best to keep it as private as possible,” he said while appearing on theOn Purpose with Jay Shettypodcast. “We both feel very strongly that that is the healthiest way to move on as a couple.”
