Trevor Lawrence Says Wife Marissa Is a 'Champ' for Giving Birth to Their 10-Lb. Daughter Shae (Exclusive)

It may be the NFL offseason, but life is plenty busy forTrevor Lawrencethis year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, 25, is living in an entirely new world as the dad to 7-week-old Shae Lynn, whomhe and wife Marissa welcomed on Jan. 4.

“We’re still adjusting,” Lawrence tells PEOPLE at the Gatorade Lab, the brand’s pop-up forSuper Bowlweekend in New Orleans, “but it’s just been awesome,” he says of their new arrival.

“She’s great, I mean, it definitely just changes your perspective; changes how you operate just on a day-to-day basis. The whole day obviously revolves around just one person you’re taking care of now, so it’s just, life’s different, but it’s amazing,” he says.

The quarterback, now a four-year veteran in the league, says he’s been in awe of Shae, from holding her in his arms after “thinking about her in Mar’s belly” for months to watching her quickly “change and grow.”

“In that newborn stage, they develop so quick, they grow so quick,” he says. “It’s just, every day she’s more alert. You can tell, she’s starting to figure out a little bit of what’s going on.”

Lawrence was able to leave Shae’s side briefly for his quick trip to New Orleans, where he checked out the Gatorade Lab and watched as fellow Gatorade athlete Caitlin Clarkthrew a few perfect spiralson a indoor field.

“I’m not surprised,” he said of Clark’s prowess with a football. “I’ve got some competition.”
