Ani, a young sex worker from Brooklyn who finds herself in a whirlwind love story when she meets Vanya (Mark Eydelshteyn), the son of an oligarch, while on the job. The two fall in love and elope in Las Vegas, which allows Vanya to legally live in the U.S. and offers Ani a chance at a life of luxury.

But Ani’s fairytale gets interrupted when the news that Vanya married a sex worker reaches Russia, prompting his parents to set out for New York and get the marriage annulled.

“It was important to me to try to research as much as possible. I wanted to try to understand that community in a really specific way, so that I could portray Ani’s life as realistically as possible," she said. “I didn’t want it to be sensationalized or dramatized in a negative way. I just wanted it to be what it was.”
