There is no shortage of laughs in Chris Distefano and Jasmin Canuelas’ relationship.

Over the years, Distefano has mentioned Canuelas in his stand-up material, recalling moments from their relationship in his comedy as well as funny stories about his fiancée. Canuelas has also appeared in episodes of hisChrissy Chaospodcast to divulge details about their decade-long connection.

During a January 2023 episode of his audio show, Distefano had Canuelas on as a special guest, and they discussed how their romance evolved. Although the couple broke up several times in the early days, they always returned to each other despite the odds.

“If you take us these past eight years, there’s a lot,” he said. “Having a child almost right away … all the problems we used to have … actually breaking up."

Distefano continued, “And then to say, well now, not only did they get all through that, they have yet another child and are still together. I think it’s just a good lesson.”

Canuelasrevealed on social mediathat she briefly attended art school before becoming a fitness professional. She decided to make the pivot after she welcomed her oldest child and startedtaking Zumba classes.

Canuelas has been a National Academy of Sports Medicinecertified personal trainerand group fitness instructor since 2014.Her specialtiesinclude HIIT and bootcamp-inspired workouts.

In addition, she isa spin instructorat a studio located in Queens, N.Y.

She met Distefano in 2014

Distefano has shared several stories about how he met his now-fiancée. During a February 2022 appearance on theThis Past Weekendpodcast, the comedian revealed that he crossed paths with Canuelas during a night out in July 2014 and recalled how he felt the first time he noticed her.

“I see her, and she’s dancing, and it was one of those things where it was almost like in a movie, truthfully,” he said. “My heart stopped. It was the only time I ever felt that in my life, where I looked at her and I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ "

Distefano opened up further about his early relationship with Canuelas on a May 2022 episode of the podcastHowie Mandel Does Stuffpodcast. The stand-up performer shared that he and Canuelas were both at a bar called Place to Beach in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He explained that he initially tried to ask her out on a date after hitting on her on the dance floor, but she said that she had a boyfriend at the time. However, things changed when she was single again.

“She messaged me, and we went out on a date the week later,” he added.

Distefano confirmed that on their second date, Canuelas got pregnant with the couple’s first child and her second.

Canuelas is a proud mom of three children.

Before her relationship with Distefano, Canuelas welcomed her son, Tristan, with her ex-boyfriend, Tristan Rega. She later welcomed two children with the comedian: daughters Delilah,born in 2015, and Violette,born in 2021.

Distefano had Rega as his guest on a March 2021 episode of his podcastChrissy Chaosto talk about co-parenting Tristan and the relationship between their kids as siblings.

“It was throughout you and I getting to know each other I was like, ‘Wait a second. The connection is through the children,’ “ Distefano told Rega. “Your son is not my stepson, he is my daughter’s brother. I’d jump in front of a bullet for Tristan and Delilah.”

Distefano’s comedy routines have previously mentioned his children, including anecdotes from their family life.

They announced their engagement in January 2025

After a decade together, Distefano and Canuelas took their relationship to the next level and got engaged.

Distefano announced the exciting news during a January 2025 on-air appearance onNew York Living.In the interview, he shared, “By the way, we just recently got engaged, Jasmin and I. We’ve been together 10 years and have three kids, I felt it was finally getting serious enough.”

He recounted how he popped the question, explaining that he told his kids on a Monday morning that he had gotten an engagement ring for their mom. They all had mixed reactions, with Distefano sharing that Delilah was ecstatic, whereas Tristian played hard to get when it came to filming the moment.

“She walked into the living room, I was on one knee with the ring. It was a whole beautiful thing,” he said. “Now we’re engaged. So now it’s really serious.”

Canuelas celebrated the moment at the end of January 2025, postinga photo montagefeaturing a slew of photos of the couple from over the years.

In the caption, she shared a sweet message about their relationship, writing, “10+ yrs sharing the ups and downs of life @chrisdcomedy I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”

They are planning to move back to Staten Island

Distefano and Canuelas are both New York natives: The comedian grew up in Queens, while his fiancée isfrom Brooklyn. The couple have kept their family in New York City, moving around the five boroughs.

Distefano spoke about his tendency to relocate his family every few years during a September 2023 appearance on theElvis Duran and the Morning Show.

“She’s very mad at me for constantly moving,” Distefano said of Canuelas. “I have a great place on Staten Island … I have to be able to walk to a store, get a coffee, get a bagel, start thinking, and I can’t walk anywhere where my house is. So I said, ‘Babe, we got to move to a place where I can walk to the store.’ “

They later found a spot closer to his mom in Queens, but it was short-lived. Distefano announced on hisChrissy Chaospodcast in December 2024 that he was planning on moving his family back to Staten Island, though he hadn’t purchased a house yet.

She loves “celebrating” Distefano’s accomplishments

When Distefano sold out the Beacon Theatre in N.Y.C. in October 2022, sheposed with the comedianholding a framed poster from the event. Canuelas reflected on the moment in an Instagram post, writing, “To say we’re proud of you is an understatement. We’re so happy to be a part of your journey babe. We love you ❤️.”

She echoed a similar sentiment the following year in September 2023 when he sold out Radio City Music Hall. Canuelas marked the moment with acarousel of photosfrom the event, including a sweet snap of the family of five posing for a picture on stage.

“What a phenomenal weekend,” she captioned it. “Congratulations @chrisdcomedy 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼😭❤️.”

More recently, in December 2024, sheshared a photo montageon Instagram to mark her fiancé’s newest stand-up special. “I had so much fun celebrating you," she wrote in part.
