Comedian and actress Leanne Morgan uses moments with her husband in her material.

The comic met her second husband, Chuck Morgan, while “flailing” at The University of Tennessee. At the time, Leanne was back at school to earn a degree in child and family studies after getting a divorce from her first husband.

She was also working at a local restaurant, where she eventually met her future husband. In an interview for herNever Before Toldseries on YouTube, Leanne told their daughter Maggie about her meet-cute with Chuck.

“Your daddy, Chuck Morgan, was in MBA school and came to work there — they had a group of trainees come through — and I’m standing up against the wall waiting for my table to be seated,” she told Maggie. “He’s tall, he’s 6’4”, he’s so thin, he looks like a praying mantis. I mean that in a sweet way. And I said ‘You’re as tall as a tree.' ”

Leanne and Chuck started dating soon after and married around 1993. They then went on to welcome three children, Charlie, Maggie and Tess. In her 2023 comedy specialLeanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman, the comedian shared memories from the early years of her relationship with Chuck.

“He was so enthralled with me and so in love with me and pursued me and bought me presents and vacuumed out my car. And did all kinds of things for me,” she said.

They met while she was studying at the University of Tennessee

In a July 2023 interview withNPR’s Fresh Air, theYou’re Cordially Invitedstar explained that her husband was “crazy” about her from the moment they met.

“We’ve been married over 30 years. And I — he, you know, was just so crazy about me. And when I was at the University of Tennessee — and would not leave me alone and stalked me, really,” she joked.

Commenting on their “wonderful life” together, Leanne also discussed the different challenges they face in their day-to-day lives: Leanne as a creative person and Chuck as a corporate worker.

“I am very unorganized. I am an artist. And he is a self-starter, a successful man who has goals and reaches them,” she said. “And that’s been the conflict — is that he married a kook who — and he has always been supportive of me, but he has been just Steady Eddie all of our lives.”

Leanne has joked about Chuck being an introvert

“He is very introverted, there’s nothing wrong with that,” the comic said during a live show. “He has to talk all day on the phone and in meetings so he uses all of his words up during the day.”

Despite his need for quiet, Chuck is a big supporter of his wife’s work. He attends many of her stand-up shows and was even pictured in 2024 reading her bookWhat in the World?!.

“Lord y’all, how in the world has it already been ONE MONTH since my book came out?! Chuck has been learning SOO much!” she wrote onInstagram. “He said the last 30 years make a lot more sense! ❤️ 😆.”

He ran a mobile home business

In his 20s, Chuck began to run his own mobile home business after moving with Leanne and their kids to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.

In a conversation with her daughter Maggie for theNever Before ToldYouTube series, Leanne said that Chuck is a frugal man, but had given the family a wonderful life.

“Chuck Morgan is a very driven overachiever person and he ran that business for years and then sold it and went to work for a large mobile home company,” she said, adding, “he had all this responsibility on him as a young man.”

Leanne and Chuck share three adult children: Charlie, born in 1993; Maggie, born in 1996; and Tess, born in 1998.

Although the kids are often the butt of their mom’s jokes, during a 2024 interview onLate Night with Seth Meyers, Leanne explained that that wasn’t always the case.

“When they were in elementary [school,] it was fine because they didn’t know,” she said. “Then, middle school, it was, like, ‘Do not say my name out of your mouth,’ and that was a very dry time for me.”

Now, the kids don’t mind their mom gaining laughs from their stories, and today, Leanne often shares memories of theirschool daysonstage.

The family also appears together on Leanne’s social media. In December 2024, the comedianshared a videoof herself and Tess making the family’s recipe for Mac and Cheese.

He and Leanne have at least two grandchildren

On Dec. 8, 2020, Leanne and Chuck became grandparents for the first time after their son, Charlie, and daughter-in-law Mary welcomed their son, Charles Wilbur.

“We just stare at him and he smells good. And, he looks just like Chuck Morgan, my husband. I’ve never felt like this with anybody else. He’s precious, but I know he’s not mine,” Leanne explained. “Chuck and I want him to be ours. We want to still have Charlie at home and have his wife Mary, who we worship, come and live with us and let us all raise Charles Wilbur.”
