In September 2023, PEOPLE broke the news that theChrisley Knows Bestalum isdating former football playerRobert Shiver. She was previously engaged to Nic Kerdiles, whom sheparted waysfrom in 2020.

Shiver made headlines in July 2023 afterhe survived an alleged murder plotinvolving his ex-wife, Lindsay Shiver. The former beauty pageant queen and Auburn University cheerleader from Thomasville, Ga., and her alleged boyfriend were accused of plotting to kill Shiver with the help of a hitman.

When Chrisley learned of Shiver’s circumstances, shereached out on Instagram.

“All of a sudden this message came through. I looked at it, and it was from Savannah Chrisley. And I was like, that name sounds really familiar,” the former football player recalled on Chrisley’s podcast,Unlocked, in January 2025. “All the message said was like, ‘Hey, I’ll be praying for you,’ or something like that.”

Chrisley added: “You had gone viral. I was just being a kind person.”

Shiver is from Thomasville, Ga., where he has worked at Senior Life Insurance since 2009, according to hisLinkedIn.

He played football at Auburn University

He married Lindsay Shiver in 2007

Like Shiver, his ex-wife, Lindsay, is also from Thomasville and went to Auburn University, where she cheered for the school’s team.

In 2005, she was named Miss Houston County and came in second in the National Peanut Festival pageant that same year, perCBS42.

The two tied the knot in 2007 and later welcomed three children together. Shiver filed for divorce in April 2023 after learning of Lindsay’s “adulterous conduct,” per theNew York Post.

He survived an alleged murder-for-hire plot

Lindsay, along with her alleged boyfriend, Terrence Bethel, and alleged proposed hitman in the Bahamas, were accused of plotting to kill Shiver.

Lindsay and her alleged accomplices were released on bail. A judge later determined that the mom of three violated her bond agreement when she appeared onGood Morning America. Lindsay’s bail was revoked in October 2024, and she is currently in custody in the Bahamas, according toFox 5 Atlanta.

He’s a dad

During their time together, Shiver and Lindsay welcomed three children. With her boyfriend’s kids in mind, Chrisley said that she was keeping details about the alleged murder plot involving Lindsay private when speaking onNick Viall’sThe Viall Filespodcast in September 2023.

“There’s kids involved,” Chrisley said during the episode. “I just have so much respect for them that I would never say, ‘This is what happened. That’s what happened.’ That’s for them to talk about when they’re ready to talk about it.”

“This guy that I’m talking to, his wife just tried to kill him. … It was a thing,” Chrisley said. “He’s a normal person and I love it.”

Chrisley debuted her romance with Shiver onInstagramin November 2023.

“Sometimes… it just works,” she captioned a series of PDA-filled images.

Shortly after posting the photos, the reality starfaced a bit of backlash. Several fans felt that Chrisley should still be mourning thedeath of her ex-fiancé, Nic Kerdiles, rather than celebrating her new relationship.

Chrisley added: “In January [2023], we finally just cold turkey stopped talking in general. So, Nic and I were not together. We had not been together in…two years maybe?”

He appeared on Chrisley’s podcast in January 2025

Shiver was a guest on Chrisley’s podcast,Unlocked, for the first time in January 2025. The episode was titled “Meet My Boyfriend” and the couple revealed that they first connected on Instagram in 2023 before arranging to meet in Boston when Chrisley took a trip to attend aMorgan Wallenconcert.

The former football player also shared that he has met Chrisley’s mom, Julie, who is currently in prison after she and her husband,Todd, wereconvicted in June 2022 of fraud and tax evasion.

“I have met your mother one time. Incredible human being,” Shiver said. “Me and Julie, we get along great.”

However, Todd “has not been as open” to meeting Shiver, according to Chrisley. “I think that’s probably rightfully so. Right?” Shiver added. “It’s his daughter, you know? Who’s this guy? He’s got all this baggage. You know?"
