Sutton Fosterand her husband, Ted Griffin, are going their separate ways.

In October 2024, Fosterfiled for divorcefrom Griffin after nearly 10 years of marriage and one child together, a daughter named Emily who they welcomed in 2017.

“There was something about being withTed that made me want kids,” the actress told PEOPLE in 2018. “He belonged in my family," she said, adding that she “didn’t really understand the concept of motherhood until he came around.”

Foster and Griffin turned to adoption after failedrounds of IVF. “Where IVF was full of disappointment and heartbreak, adoption was so clearly what was meant to be for us,” she said at the time.

Foster has been candid about their decision to adopt and shares sweet tributes to their daughter on social media. In 2023, the actress penned a post in dedication to Emily and her birth mom onInstagramin honor of Mother’s Day.

A year after their engagement, Griffin and Fostertied the knotin October 2014 in a private ceremony held in Santa Barbara.

Prior to their nuptials, Foster’s process in picking out a wedding dress was chronicled on TLC’sSay Yes to the Dress— though, the episode premiered after their wedding.

“I knew that it made me ‘feel’ different,” shetold PEOPLEof the gown she ultimately selected. “I felt very confident and knew that it was the first dress I had tried on that felt ‘right.’”
