“A big moment for me was when I was about 5 or 6. My mom used to be a projectionist. We had moved to the country, we were living on this gorgeous 380-acre [land] with the Redwoods with seven other families. There was this big beautiful barn. She would a hang sheet and somehow have these really great connections when she would get sent films and she would screen them,” Ryder recalls of the childhood memory.
“I would run up and throw myself against the sheet trying to get inside whatever what was going on. That was a transformative moment and that’s when I fell in love with film.”
