A woman is wondering if she’s in the wrong for responding to her sister-in-law’s unsolicited advice with a “snappy text” in their family group chat.

“The women in my husband’s family — his 2 sisters, our [sister-in-law] and his mom — and I have a group chat where we send pictures of our kids, tell funny stories about our day, and, in this case, send updates about possible labor,” the woman began her Feb. 5 Reddit post.

At noon, she told the group chat that nurses said she “wasn’t dilated enough to be admitted, despite strong and frequent contractions.”

“I assured everyone [the labor] was most likely going to happen that day, judging from past experiences, but I would go home to labor in comfort,” she explained, before adding, “This is where I might be the a——.”

At this point, the sister-in-law chimed in.

The expectant mother said she replied to her sister-in-law while having a contraction. She recalled texting, “Not to be bity, but this ain’t my first rodeo, and I know how to Google things as well.”

“SIL does not reply to me in texts, and has since unfriended me on Facebook (not that I really care about that),” she wrote. “I just want to know if I was an a—— for what I said, and in hindsight, perhaps I shouldn’t have been texting in the group chat while in labor.”

Another Redditor wrote, “All those articles and screenshots weren’t necessary when you’ve literally given birth multiple times before this and you didn’t say anything wrong. You’ve been in labor before and you also have Google at your fingertips.”
