A woman says she had to treat her boyfriend — and hissick dog— with tough love after he asked her to help with his veterinarian bills.

So when the man’s dog Buster recently needed to take a trip to urgent care, the woman wrote that her boyfriend wasn’t able to pay the “few hundred dollars” the appointment and care ended up costing.

“My boyfriend called me, panicking, saying he didn’t have enough and asking if I could help. And yeah, Icouldafford it, but honestly, I was so frustrated because this isn’t even the first time he’s been in a financial crisis over something he should have planned for,” the woman said.

“I told him I love Buster, but this was his responsibility, and he should have set aside emergency savings instead of constantly blowing money on nonsense,” she continued.

The woman then wrote that her boyfriend asked her, “So you’d just let Buster suffer?” which she denied.

“But also, why is this suddenlymyproblem?” she next questioned. “I suggested he ask his family or, idk, maybe not act like I’m an ATM, and he got all huffy and passive aggressive about it.”

“Now he’s been distant, and some of our mutual friends are saying I was heartless for not helping when I clearly had the money,” the girlfriend continued, adding, “I feel guilty because I do love that dog, and Igetthat emergencies happen, but at the same time, I’m not his financial safety net, especially when he constantly refuses to be responsible with his own money.”

“Why didn’t the friends giving her crap agree to pay for it themselves? They could all get together and pitch in,” one person wrote.
