If the announcer at the2025 Oscarssounds familiar, that’s because it’sNick Offerman!
TheLast of Usstar, 54, assumed the role of the announcer for the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. Last year,David Alan Grier’s voice was heard throughout the show, taking on the jobRonald Reaganinitially created.
In 1953, Reagan, who was an actor before becoming the 40th President of the United States, became the first voice to announce the 25th annual Oscars. He had previously been a sports broadcaster, making him a perfect fit for the award show’s first televised event.

“Digging that Ron Swanson (aka Nick Offerman) is the#Oscars2025announcer,” one user wrote on X, hilariously referring to Offerman primarily as his character’s name.
“I was very happy,” he said of playing the quirky Libertarian official. “I had a wood shop, and I was working regularly at guest star jobs and Sundance movies. And we were big fans ofThe Office.”

Despite the massive success ofParks and Rec,Offerman also noted that he didn’t ascend to fame in the same way that other actors have.
“It’s interesting, because I still feel like I’m kind of an underground property,” he said. “I didn’t become, you know, Steve Carell or something.”
Offerman has since worked on shows likeThe Umbrella AcademyandThe Last of Us(for which he won an Emmy) and appeared in movies such asSing, We’re the MillersandCivil War.
